Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No tight-fitting or stretch clothing; no see-through clothing (revealing white clothing counts as see-through)
  • No low-cut blouses, tank tops, or sleeveless shirts - shirts/blouses must cover the shoulders
  • No wrap-around or button-up/down skirts; shorts, skirts, and dresses no more than 2 inches above the knee
  • No flip-flops or open-toe shoes
  • No hats, ball caps, bandanas, sweat bands, do-rags, or head gear (except approved religious headwear)
  • No watches, sunglasses, or scarves
  • No grey sweatpants/shirts, hooded shirts/jackets, or any jacket/coat/sweater (outerwear)
  • No khaki, tan, beige, brown, or light-brown colored clothing (resembles the inmate uniform)

You may bring

  • Valid photo ID (driver's license, government ID, or armed forces ID) - required for visitors 16 and older
  • One small clear plastic purse/change purse, no larger than 10"x10" (no large purses or tote bags)
  • Necessary life-sustaining medication
  • Up to $25.00 in $1/$5 bills or change for vending machines
  • Baby items only: 3 diapers, 2 bottles (3/4 full of prepared formula), 1 sealed baby food container, 1 empty bottle, 1 clear cup, 1 plastic spoon, 1 clear tote bag, 1 zip-lock bag of wipes
  • Up to 2 feminine hygiene items (tampons or sanitary napkins)

Not allowed

  • Cameras or any recording equipment
  • Tobacco products (USP Lee is a tobacco-free institution)
  • Newspapers, magazines, clippings, photographs, or makeup of any kind
  • Outside food or drinks, strollers, or baby carrying devices
  • Cell phones or any electronic devices
  • Games or toys, and animals (except certified service animals)

Good to know

ID requirements
Positive photo identification is required for all visitors 16 and older: a valid driver's license, official state/federal/local government photo ID, or armed forces photo ID. Check-cashing cards and similar documents are not accepted; visitors under 16 accompanied by a parent/guardian are exempt.
Children
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult parent or legal guardian and are not counted toward the 3-adult-visitor limit. Visitors age 16-17 not accompanied by a parent/guardian must submit a visitor form to the Correctional Counselor. The overall visiting list allows up to 5 total visitors (infants 2 and under don't count); more than 5 requires prior Warden approval. Visiting is generally limited to immediate family unless otherwise approved.
Vending machines
Sandwiches, soft drinks, and candy are available from vending machines in the Visiting Room. Visitors may buy food for the inmate but may never give the inmate money; inmates cannot access the vending machines or the area around them.
Money you may bring
Up to $25.00 total in $1 or $5 bills or coins
  • Visitors are not processed into the Visiting Room after 2:00 p.m.; processing out begins first-in/first-out so everyone is out by 3:00 p.m.
  • Outdoor visiting is not permitted at the USP
  • Charter bus/van groups should notify the institution in advance; only 10 visitors are allowed in the front lobby at a time for processing
  • Once checked in, visitors cannot return to their vehicle or leave and re-enter - doing so ends the visit
  • Visiting information/regulations are also available in Spanish at the front lobby
