Visiting days depend on your loved one

Rules vary by facility at this complex. At USP-2, general population visits the 1st-3rd weekends of the month while the Reintegration Unit visits the 4th weekend. At FCI Low, general population weekend visiting alternates by odd/even register number. FCI Medium and USP-1 have no rotation for their general visiting days.

Before you book anything, ask your loved one which day and time they're assigned — by phone, email or letter — and confirm it with the facility. The calendar shows every possible visiting day at this facility, not necessarily theirs.

Rotation: General population visits on the first, second, and third weekend of the month; the Reintegration Unit (RU) visits on the fourth weekend. No visiting Monday-Friday (special visits only, by appointment through the Warden's Office).

Special Housing Unit (SHU)

Rotation: USP-1/USP-2 SHU: non-contact visits Saturday/Sunday/approved holidays only, not Monday; visitors not processed after 11:00 a.m., 2-hour limit, max 2 visitors. FCI Low SHU: Monday only, Camp SHU inmates 8:00-11:30 a.m., Low SHU inmates 12:00-3:00 p.m. (visitors not processed after 2:00 p.m.). FCI Medium SHU: Monday 8:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (visitors not processed after 11:00 a.m.). Max 2 visitors per SHU inmate per visiting day.

Points / frequency: Inmates get 6 visiting points per calendar month; each visit (any duration) costs 2 points, allowing up to 3 visits/month; points do not carry over between months.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No see-through garments, sleeveless tops, or overly tight-fitting clothes
  • No plunging necklines, open-toed shoes, or garments exposing private body parts
  • Clothing must reach the knee while standing
  • No halter tops, wrap-around skirts, spandex, caps, or hats
  • No clothing with logos indicating gang affiliation; no bathing-suit type attire
  • No khaki or green clothing similar to inmate attire; no camouflage clothing
  • Women should avoid underwire bras since they may not clear the metal detector

You may bring

  • Valid photo ID (state driver's license, state ID, government ID, or passport)
  • Clear change purse, no larger than 6"x6"x3"
  • Up to $20.00 (no bill over $5.00)
  • Empty clear plastic baby bottles; diapers, baby powder, ointment, diaper wipes (in a clear container)
  • Commercially sealed, prepackaged baby food/formula (up to 2 sealed containers of each); baby clothes (1 set) and 1 small blanket
  • Life-maintenance medication (heart, epileptic, etc.); jewelry worn in (no watches); sweater/light jacket; feminine hygiene items (reasonable amount)

Not allowed

  • Cell phones, pagers, or any other electronic devices
  • Handbags, car keys (must be secured in a locker or vehicle)
  • Cameras, video equipment, or recording devices without advance written Warden approval
  • Diabetic insulin/syringes are not treated as life-maintenance medication (must be lockered)

Good to know

ID requirements
All visitors, except children under 16, must display photo ID before entering: a valid state driver's license, state ID, or government/passport ID issued by a local, state, federal, or foreign government.
Children
Ordinarily up to 5 total visitors, excluding children under 2, may visit at one time. Children age 2 and under may sit on the visitor's lap if a seat isn't available, but may never sit on the inmate's lap; parents are responsible for children's behavior and children must stay in direct line of sight.

  • Once a visitor enters the visiting room they may not leave for any reason; leaving terminates the visit
  • On weekends/holidays, admittance stops at 9:30 a.m. for the 10:00 a.m. institutional count; no movement in/out during the count
  • Visitors may not enter FCC Coleman institutions before 8:00 a.m. on visiting days, and parking along any Bureau road is prohibited
