Visiting days depend on your loved one

Each housing unit/floor is assigned one specific day of the week for visiting (weekday or weekend). On weekday visiting days, inmates also alternate monthly between an afternoon and an evening slot based on the 5th digit of their register number. Ask the inmate's unit team which day and time slot applies.

Before you book anything, ask your loved one which day and time they're assigned — by phone, email or letter — and confirm it with the facility. The calendar shows every possible visiting day at this facility, not necessarily theirs.

Rotation: Each housing unit is assigned one specific weekday (or weekend day) for visiting only — an inmate does not visit every weekday. On that assigned day, inmates alternate monthly between the 12:00-3:00 p.m. afternoon slot and the 5:00-7:30 p.m. evening slot, based on the 5th digit of their register number ('odd' vs 'even') and whether the current month is odd or even numbered. Visits on federal holidays go to whichever unit's regular visiting day falls on that holiday. Visitors cannot enter after 6:30 p.m. on weekdays/holidays. Ask the inmate's unit team which specific day and slot (a.m./p.m./evening) applies.

Rotation: Weekend visiting (8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) is also assigned by housing unit/floor, with specific units visiting on Saturday or Sunday only (see the East/West Building weekly visiting-day table in the source document). Visitors cannot enter after 2:00 p.m. on weekends.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No overcoats, raincoats, parkas, winter coats, or puffy vests (blazers/cardigans OK)
  • No open-toe shoes, sandals, or wheeled shoes; shoes must be closed-toe with a heel strap
  • No shirts or pants with holes
  • No khaki, tan, beige, or unidentified military-style clothing
  • No sweatpants or hooded shirts
  • No swimwear, tube tops, midriffs, low-cut, see-through, lycra/spandex, or tight clothing (incl. yoga pants/jeggings)
  • No hats, visors, scarves, sunglasses, or long hair picks (religious headwear allowed per policy)
  • No sleeveless tops/dresses unless covered by a sweater/blazer with sleeves past the shoulder
  • Skirts, dresses, and shorts must not be shorter than 3 inches above the knee

You may bring

  • One small clear plastic container no larger than 4" x 7"
  • Up to $30 in cash/coins (bills in $1 and $5 denominations only)
  • For infants: 2 diapers, 1 small receiving blanket, 1 bottle of baby formula
  • Valid photo ID if you are 16 or older (driver's license, school ID, or state/federal ID)

Not allowed

  • Cell phones, pagers, cameras, or recording equipment
  • Newspapers, magazines, tissues, personal keys, watches, wallets (secured in a lobby locker instead)
  • Packages or gifts of any kind for the inmate
  • Food, chewing gum, medication, weapons, tools, or drugs
  • Any item not on the specific approved list (clear container, cash limit, diapers, blanket, baby bottle)

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors over age 16 must show valid photo ID: a driver's license, school ID card, or state/federal photo ID (expired dates on these are still accepted, but staff may ask for another ID if it looks questionable).
Children
A parent or guardian's signature is required to process a visit request for anyone under 18. Visitors under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children 4 and under held on an adult's lap the entire visit do not count toward the 4-visitor limit.
Vending machines
Vending machines in the Visiting Room are stocked with food and beverage items; inmates are not permitted to use them.
Money you may bring
Up to $30 in cash/coins per visitor; bills must be in $1 and $5 denominations
  • Visitor processing begins 30 minutes before visiting hours start
  • Arriving within 1 hour of the end of visiting hours means you will not be processed or allowed to visit
  • Each inmate gets 1 hour of social visiting per day, with a minimum of 4 total visiting hours guaranteed per month
  • Confirm the exact assigned visiting day and time slot (day/evening) with the inmate's unit team before traveling
  • Attorneys have separate legal-visit hours, Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
