Points / frequency: No monthly point allotment is described; visitor frequency is limited only by the 5-visitor cap (3 adults max) per visit and overcrowding/termination rules.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No halter tops, midriff shirts, or sleeveless/strapless/bareback tops or dresses
  • No tight/form-fitting clothing (spandex, leggings, stirrups, lycra)
  • No shorts for anyone 16 or older; no khaki or camouflage clothing
  • No miniskirts or skirts more than 2 inches above the knee; no long slits
  • No see-through clothing, deep v-neck tops, or torn/worn jeans
  • No caps, hats, or scarves of any kind; no coats/sweaters/jackets extending below the knee
  • No open-toe shoes, flip-flops, or shower-shoe sandals; no athletic shorts/sweatpants or hooded sweatshirts

You may bring

  • Valid photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID, not expired) for visitors 16 and older
  • Clear change purse (max 5x6x2 in) with $20 for vending
  • Nitroglycerin pills, inhaler, epi-pen, or diabetic kit (kept at the Officer's Station)
  • For infants: 2 pre-made bottles of milk/formula, 3 diapers per child, 2 unopened clear jars of baby food, in a small clear diaper bag no larger than 14x16x3 inches

Not allowed

  • Any item or money exchanged with an inmate during the visit
  • Cell phones, pagers, radios, or any recording/electronic device
  • Weapons, ammunition, pocketknives, handcuffs/keys, alcohol, or drugs
  • Any tobacco product, including e-cigarettes/vapes, matches, or lighters
  • Watches, hats, scarves, sunglasses, or umbrellas
  • Wallets, debit/credit cards, cosmetics, photos, glass containers/cans
  • Purses or non-see-through diaper bags, pens/paper, candy/gum/food, strollers/car seats/baby carriers, toys or games

ID requirements
All visitors 16 and older must show valid, unexpired photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID card).
Children
Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult (at least 18) who is on the inmate's approved visiting list; under-18 visitors need written parental/guardian approval. No child or pet may be left unattended in a vehicle.
Vending machines
Only visitors may purchase from vending machines; inmates cannot hold money or enter the vending area. No outside food may be brought in, and visitors cannot leave and return to resume a visit (including for lunch).
Money you may bring
$20.00 in currency for vending machines, carried in a clear change purse no larger than 5x6x2 inches
  • Check bop.gov/locations/institutions/mrg/ or call 304-296-4416 (press #1) to confirm visiting is scheduled before traveling
  • Lockers are available; exchange your driver's license/state ID for a locker key at the entrance
  • Visitors must park in the lot left of the main entrance (right lot is for handicap parking with a visible placard)
  • No cameras of any kind are authorized on the grounds
