On weekends/holidays, no one may enter or exit the visiting room from 9:15/9:30-10:00 a.m. for the institutional count; processing stops at 9:00 a.m. and resumes once the count clears.

Satellite camp

Points / frequency: No monthly point system; instead USP and FCI inmates get up to 7 visits per calendar month (any portion of a visit = 1 visit, doesn't carry over). Camp inmates have no visit limit.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No hooded shirts, cargo pants/shorts, jerseys, sweatpants, sweatshirts, jogging suits, scrubs, or yoga pants
  • No coats, jackets, sweaters, or pullovers worn in the visiting room (must be hung on the coat rack)
  • No tank tops, sleeveless tops, low-cut or see-through shirts; shirts must cover the midriff
  • No outer garments shorter than knee length; no flip-flops, open-back, or open-toe shoes
  • No ball caps, hats, bandanas, or sweatbands (except approved religious headwear)
  • USP visitors: no orange, camouflage, khaki, or maroon clothing. FCI visitors: no orange, camouflage, khaki, or yellow clothing
  • Watches, wallets, purses, sunglasses, Fitbits, and non-medical electronic devices are not allowed in the visiting room

You may bring

  • Valid picture ID — driver's license or state-issued ID card
  • Up to $20 in $1s, $5s, or coins, in a small clear plastic bag, for vending
  • Necessary baby care items and feminine hygiene items (in a clear bag)
  • Necessary medication, limited to the amount needed for the visit

Not allowed

  • Electronic devices, cell phones, purses, packages, or toys of any kind
  • Studded/dangling jewelry beyond a wedding band and studded earrings; body piercings that won't clear the metal detector
  • Tobacco products of any kind (all visiting areas are tobacco-free)
  • Outside food or drinks, including gum, mints, or candy
  • Unopened parcels or gifts for the inmate

Good to know

ID requirements
All visitors must present a valid picture ID (driver's license or state-issued ID card) to the Front Entrance Officer before entering.
Children
Children under 16 may not visit unless accompanied by a responsible adult; once a child turns 16 the inmate must add them to the approved visiting list, and a 16-year-old needs valid photo ID. Only children 12 and under may wear shorts above the knee, but not tank tops or sleeveless clothing.
Vending machines
Visitors may buy vending items and hand them to the inmate, but the inmate cannot remove any vending items from the Visiting Room, and inmates are not allowed in the vending machine area.
Money you may bring
Up to $20 per visitor in $1s, $5s, or coins, carried in a small clear plastic bag (wallet-size or smaller) — for vending machines only
  • Visitors may not enter FCC grounds before 7:50 a.m. on visiting days
  • USP visitors go through a Millimeter Wave Scanner plus a walk-through metal detector; FCI visitors just the walk-through metal detector
  • A kiss/embrace/handshake is allowed at start and end of visit, but the visitor and inmate's mouths are checked with a flashlight first
  • SHU/CMU/SCU visits are non-contact, via phone or video, and are separately scheduled — not part of regular visiting
