Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No workout clothing (sweatpants/yoga pants), shorts, or tight/stretch clothing
  • No skirts (except approved religious reasons), tank tops, or halter tops; shirts must cover shoulders and back
  • No see-through clothing, low-cut or crop tops, or open-back shirts/dresses
  • No hats/headgear (except approved religious headgear), sandals, open-toe shoes, sunglasses, watches, gloves, or scarves
  • No khaki, camouflage, or clothing resembling inmate uniforms (khaki at FCI, yellow at Camp)

You may bring

  • Valid government photo ID (16 and older)
  • One small clear plastic purse (max 5x8 inches) with up to $20 per adult for vending
  • One small diaper bag with diapers, pre-mixed formula, up to 3 clear baby bottles, and baby food

Not allowed

  • Handbags, wallets, hygiene items, tobacco products, umbrellas
  • Electronic devices of any kind (cell phones, smart watches, MP3 players, recording devices)
  • Food brought from outside; strollers, baby carriers, toys, glass containers
  • Medications (except specific personal medication declared and pre-approved by the Operations Lieutenant)
  • Photographs or personal recreational items; pets

ID requirements
Visitors 16 and older must present valid government-issued photo ID upon arrival; altered, forged, or expired ID is not accepted.
Children
No one under 16 may visit unless accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or immediate family member 18+. Visitors 16-17 not accompanied by a parent/guardian need prior written approval from a parent, guardian, or immediate family member 18+, filed with the Unit Team.
Vending machines
Vending machines are available for visitor use; inmates may consume vending items during the visit but may not leave with food/drink, and inmates/visitors are barred from the vending area while it's being restocked.
Money you may bring
Up to $20 per adult visitor, for vending machines only
  • Visitors must be processed one hour before the end of visiting hours to be admitted
  • No re-entry to the visiting room once you sign in — no return trips to your vehicle
  • During the 10:00 a.m. stand-up count on weekends/holidays, no movement in or out of the visiting room
  • SHU inmates visit via video equipment; those visits run up to 2 hours
