Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No revealing clothing; shorts and skirts must cover the knee while standing (except children 12 and under)
  • No tank tops, sleeveless clothing, or see-through tops; shirts/blouses must cover the midriff
  • No ball caps, hats, bandanas, sweatbands, do-rags, or smart watches (religious headgear excepted)
  • USP Lewisburg is a tobacco-free institution — no smoking anywhere on the grounds

You may bring

  • Valid government photo ID (e.g., driver's license)
  • Up to $20 in loose quarters in a clear bag no larger than 10x10 inches, for vending machines
  • Reasonable feminine hygiene products
  • For infants: 2 diapers and one unopened package of baby wipes (kept with the officer at the observation desk until needed)

  • Narcotics, alcohol, firearms, or explosives
  • Personal items or gifts given to an inmate
  • Rolled coins or paper currency for vending (quarters only, unrolled)
  • Items larger than what fits in the visitor lockers

Good to know

ID requirements
Staff verify identity via driver's license, photo ID, etc. before admitting any visitor; a government-issued ID is required.
Children
Visitors who have not turned 16 may not visit unless accompanied by a legal guardian or immediate family member over 18 on the approved visiting list. Visitors must control children's behavior; inmates are not permitted in children's play areas.
Vending machines
Inmates cannot go to the vending machine area or remove items from the visiting room. Purchased food must be opened, inspected by staff, and fully eaten before the visit ends (no reheating, nothing leaves the table unfinished).
Money you may bring
Up to $20 in loose (unrolled) quarters only, in a clear plastic bag no larger than 10x10 inches
  • Secure lockers are available at the Front Lobby for items not allowed inside
  • Nursing mothers may use the privacy curtain in the children's visitors area
  • Fog conditions may delay visitor departure until the Front Tower Officer can safely identify vehicles
  • Check bop.gov for schedule changes before traveling; there is no bus service directly to the institution
