Dress code

  • No shorts, sundresses, leotards, crop tops, or low-cut/see-through clothing
  • No sweatpants, sweatshirts, or jogging suits
  • No halter tops, bathing suits, or backless tops
  • No hats, watches, or sunglasses
  • No open-toe shoes, flip-flops, sandals, or bare feet (including babies)
  • No khaki, white, gray, or camouflage-colored clothing (resembles inmate wear)
  • Bra required for women; underclothing required for everyone
  • Winter coats/jackets are allowed but must go through the X-ray and be hung up, not worn at your seat

You may bring

  • Valid government photo ID for anyone 16 or older (driver's license, government/state/school ID, or passport)
  • Small clear change purse (no larger than 5x8x4 inches) with change or a debit/credit card
  • Two diapers, two small sealed containers of baby food, three baby bottles with contents, one blanket, wipes, and one change of clothes for infants
  • Two sanitary napkins or tampons if needed
  • Necessary emergency medication (e.g., inhaler, nitroglycerin), held at the officer's station and accessed when needed

Not allowed

  • Gifts, packages, or money for the inmate's account
  • Cell phones, pagers, vapes, or other electronic devices
  • Tobacco products of any kind
  • Cameras or recording equipment
  • Extra personal items — there are no visitor lockers, so leave anything not authorized in your car

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors 16 and older need satisfactory identification: a valid driver's license, government/state/school-issued photo ID, or a passport. No photo ID means no entry.
Children
Inmates aren't allowed in the children's area except during approved parenting programs. Parents and visitors are responsible for supervising children's behavior, who may not play on the tables; disruptive behavior can end the visit. A private area for nursing infants is available inside the visiting room.
Vending machines
Visitors buy food for the inmate from vending machines (inmates aren't allowed at the machines themselves). Only two visitors may be at the machines at once. Food is opened and placed on a paper plate in front of staff, drink labels are removed, and purchased food can't be shared between visitor and inmate.
Money you may bring
Up to $30 in coins per adult visitor per day for vending machines (debit/credit cards also accepted)
  • Visiting is Saturday, Sunday, and federal holidays only, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at both the FCI and the satellite camp (SPC)
  • No visitor check-in (in-processing) after 2:00 PM
  • Out-processing starts around 2:30 PM when 15+ inmates are in the room, otherwise around 3:00 PM
  • There is no public transportation to the institution — plan your own way to Glenville, WV
  • Visitation can be canceled or changed on short notice for safety, security, or weather — check before you travel long distance
