Rotation: Covers the FPC (Camp) and the East/West Compound (FCI). Visitors are processed out in groups of 10 or fewer starting at 3:00 p.m. and must be off the grounds by about 3:30 p.m. Legal visits at the East/West Compound may continue throughout the day.

Special Housing Unit (SHU)

  • No visiting: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
No visiting on federal holidays

Rotation: Non-contact video visits only, for a 2-hour period, for inmates in the Special Housing Unit. No SHU visits on federal holidays (holiday visiting is General Population only).

Points / frequency: Each inmate gets 8 visiting points per month; 2 points charged per visit (no distinction between weekday/weekend since visiting is weekend/holiday only). No points charged for legal visits. Points do not carry over to the next month.

Visiting can be cancelled for lockdowns, weather or count problems. Call the facility the day before you travel.

Dress code

  • No shorts (except children under 10), transparent/sheer clothing, or bathing suits
  • No sleeveless, crop, halter, backless, or low-cut tops; no sundresses
  • No hats or head coverings other than religious attire; no hooded clothing
  • No wrap skirts/dresses, spandex, leggings, sweatpants/sweatshirts, or ripped clothing
  • No camouflage clothing or clothing that resembles the inmate uniform (khaki or dark green with a plain white/matching shirt)
  • Skirts/dresses no more than 2 inches above the knee; no open-toe shoes or flip-flops

You may bring

  • Valid government photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID) for visitors 16 and older
  • One clear plastic container (about 1 cubic foot) with up to $60 in small bills for vending
  • For infants: 3 clear bottles (3/4 full formula/milk), 2 unopened baby food jars, 1 wipes pack, 5 diapers, 1 blanket, 1 change of clothes (no strollers)
  • Reasonable feminine hygiene items

Not allowed

  • Weapons, ammunition, drugs/narcotics, or outside food (other than listed baby items)
  • Cell phones, cameras, recording equipment, radios, tape players, or PDAs
  • Newspapers, magazines, pagers, photographs, or tobacco products
  • Animals, except certified service dogs for disabled visitors
  • Watches/timepieces or jewelry other than a plain wedding band or religious medal (for the inmate)

Good to know

ID requirements
Visitors 16 and older must show a valid photo ID (driver's license, passport, state ID, or other government photo ID); hands are stamped with blacklight ink for entry/exit verification.
Children
No more than 3 adults and 3 children per visit without prior approval. A Parent/Children's Area is available for inmates who completed the Parenting Program (up to 2 children age 10 or under, 1 hour per visit). Nursing is permitted; a private room is available on request.
Vending machines
Inmates may use the microwave/vending area to get items but cannot enter/operate the machines themselves and cannot share purchased food/drink with others.
Money you may bring
Up to $60 in small bills ($1, $5, $10) for vending machines; no money may be left for deposit into an inmate's account
  • Front-lobby visitor processing closes at 2:00 p.m., even though visiting continues until 3:00 p.m.
  • Visiting is Saturday, Sunday, and federal holidays only — no weekday visiting except when a holiday falls on a weekday
  • Storage lockers are available at the front entrance for disallowed items
  • Check the institution's webpage/phone system for disruption notices before traveling
